I took this because of the tension between the round shape of the lamp and the rectangle of the frame.
Een vijzel van dichtbij gefotografeerd. Het is niet meteen zichtbaar of het nu een vijzel is of iets anders. De beperkte scherptediepte in combinatie met de compositie laat nog iets aan de verbeelding over. A mortar up close. It's not immediatly evident weather it's a mortar, a bowl, or somethingh entirely different. The combination of composition and shallow depth of field leave something to the imagination.
I've taken a shot of this little mortar before in harsh sunlight and thought it would be great to 'take another shot at it' (pun intended). It took me about three hours before I had this result (it was one of the first shots... Of course). Way more than I had anticipated. I chose this shot because of the light, structure and shape. You can conclude its a bowl but this isn't obvious. I like to look at this shot. Post: Slightly curves adjustment, cropped a little, removed a fiber and added my watermark. Dit is een vijzel. De bedoeling was om, zonder dat het direct duidelijk is dat het gaat om een kommetje (of vijzel). Ik heb met opzet gekozen voor weinig scherptediepte om de vorm te benadrukken en niet de structuur. De belichting zorgt ervoor dat zowel de vorm als de structuur wordt benadrukt. Ik heb de compositie gekozen in verband met de kijklijnen door het beeld heen en de vorm die daardoor enigzins zichtbaar wordt. Post: kleine retouch ivm een pluisje, s-curve, klein beetje crop en watermerk.
